About the Author#

Igor Dobravc Mesarec is a Director of Industrialization with experience spanning engineering, manufacturing, product development, and decision -making under uncertainty. His work focuses on the point where design intent meets operational reality, particularly when early technical and organizational choices create long-term consequences that are difficult to reverse.

Throughout his career, he has worked with complex systems in which materials, processes, interfaces, capabilities, constraints, and human decisions are tightly connected. This experience shaped his interest in why apparently reasonable local improvements c an produce unexpected system effects, and why strong execution cannot compensate for a poorly structured decision.

DECODE emerged from this practical concern. The method reflects his belief that organizations should separate understanding from commitment, make embedded assumptions and boundaries visible, and decide explicitly whether to improve, redesign, or preserve a system before execution begins.
